Information concerning previous Church World Service Harvest of Hope events:

The fifth annual Harvest of Hope benefited the Water for All program of the Church World Service Africa Initiative, and local partner It Takes A Village. Held on September 19, 2006, the Harvest of Hope welcomed keynote speaker Wahu Kaara, global social justice activist from Kenya. “We cannot,” Kaara said, “found hope on notions of charity and favors. It is more of a justice issue.” The Cleo Parker Robinson TraininGroup performed with elegance and grace; and the Black Hands Drumming Ensemble provided exciting rhythms.

The fourth annual Harvest of Hope benefited the School Safe Zones program of the Church World Service Africa Initiative, and local partner It Taks A Village. Held on October 5, 2005, the Harvest of Hope welcomed award winning musician Tim Janis and Moses Ole Sakuda, a Maasai Elder from Kenya, and the Church World Service Program Director of the School Safe Zones. Tim provided inspirational music as well as his personal visits to see the School Safe Zones project in Africa. Moses delivered cultural insights and a call for responsibility. Entertainment for the festivities included drumming by Santemu Aakhu and dancing by the Cleo Parker Robinson TraininGroup.

Ethan Zohn, founder of "Grassroot Soccer", and winner of "Survivor Africa", was keynote speaker at the Third Annual Harvest of Hope held on September 29, 2004. Rev. Peter Crouch also spoke on Church World Service's Africa Initiative.
