2006 Harvest of Hope Newsletter (PDF format, 212 Kb) Wahu Kaara Speech (PDF format, 59 Kb) 2006 Harvest of Hope Photos The fourth annual Harvest of Hope benefited the School Safe Zones program of the Church World Service Africa Initiative, and local partner It Taks A Village. Held on October 5, 2005, the Harvest of Hope welcomed award winning musician Tim Janis and Moses Ole Sakuda, a Maasai Elder from Kenya, and the Church World Service Program Director of the School Safe Zones. Tim provided inspirational music as well as his personal visits to see the School Safe Zones project in Africa. Moses delivered cultural insights and a call for responsibility. Entertainment for the festivities included drumming by Santemu Aakhu and dancing by the Cleo Parker Robinson TraininGroup. 2005 Harvest of Hope Newsletter (PDF format, 268 Kb) 2005 Harvest of Hope Photos Ethan Zohn, founder of "Grassroot Soccer", and winner of "Survivor Africa", was keynote speaker at the Third Annual Harvest of Hope held on September 29, 2004. Rev. Peter Crouch also spoke on Church World Service's Africa Initiative. Jane Machira of the Nairobi, Kenya, office of Church World Service gave a special speech on African needs. George McGovern, United Nations Ambassador to the Hungry and a former U.S. Senator and Presidential candidate, was keynote speaker at the inaugural Harvest of Hope held on September 24, 2002. Rev. John McCullough, Executive Director of Church World Service, also spoke during the evening. |
